If
Lisandro Lopez was in large part the main star of
Olympique Lyonnais’ first leg win of the
UEFA Champions League quarter final against
Bordeaux, the second leg star for OL was undoubtedly 23 year-old goalkeeper
Hugo Lloris.
The press was quick to single out his remarkable save against Wendel’s mighty header three minutes before the end of the match.
While Lloris has been garnering attention for sometime with his performance for both Lyon and Les Bleus, his recent accomplishments have got international clubs talking.
A year ago this time
Arsène Wenger was singing the praises of his fellow Frenchman, suggesting that he was France’s best goalkeeper, but denying any rumors that he might in fact replace
Almunia.
But today’s
Daily Mail reported that Manchester United’s
Sir Alex Ferguson has “stepped up his efforts to recruit French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris as a long-term replacement for
Edwin van der Sar.”
"Stepped up his efforts" translating roughly into a £15 million offer.
Meanwhile
France Football is reporting that
Willy Sagnol has also told
Bayern Munich chiefs to take steps to recruit the young Niçois “immediately.”
No word yet of what sum "immediately" translates to.
However, barring any outstandingly majestic offers Lloris is with Lyon for another season.
