It was an important away match for Arsenal which was really important for them to win.Arsenal did walk away with a important win but at the cost of their young talent Ramsey.Horrific is the only word that comes to mind when i recall the moment when Ryan Showcross made that tackle on Ramsey.I am die hard Man Utd supporter and have no sympathies whatsoever with Arsenal but i felt extremely sad for the kid.He was a budding talent and certainly did not deserve it.No footballer deserves such an injury.Fifa should impose some sort of a ban on Ryan Showcross for his gruesome tacle. What on earth was he thinking?I pray to god that he recovers in near future and becomes fit to showcase his skills once again.

IMHO, it was no horror tackle. The one against Eduardo was, but this one was a normal foul. Aaron was unlucky, and his ankle remained under Shawcross' foot, but it was a fast-paced moment in the game, both the players were running fast and they both could have suffered a dramatic injury. Maybe a better skilled defender could have avoided this, but I wouldn't blame Shawcross too much this time. It's just bad luck.

oh and.. i think any sort of penalty or ban would be outrageous. this is football, not the catwalk. injuries happen. so do mistakes. if fifa were to ban shawcross they might as well think about banning half of the premiership.

what was shawcross thinking? i suppose he was thinking about how great it would be for stoke to stay in the premiership. as i said in my previous comment, arsenal play very fast paced possession football. stoke are a traditional english physical side. the man is a defender, not a precision instrument, give him a break

well honestly, the man was going for the ball, not ramseys legs. thats evident if you watch the replays.
yes he has injured other players, but hes a defender for stoke. theyre fighting to stay in the premier league. you have to expect that when you go to a team like stoke and play on their pitch especially towards the end of the season, they are going to try and grind out some kind of result. they arent barcelona, they play physical football. and arsenal arent exactly a rugby team. when you have one of the youngest average squads in the EPL not to mention lightest in terms of weight, and you play possession football, you cannot honestly tell me that you didnt see this coming.

its like taunting a dog thats on a chain with a piece of meat. you go near it and then come away and go near it and come away. pretty soon its either going to get the meat or your arm.
im not justifying the injury, im just saying that it shouldnt be such a horriffic surprise to everyone.
it happens to arsenal. not because other teams single them out and want to break their legs, but because of the style of football they play in this very physical league.

its tough to play at home against a team like arsenal that just want to hold the ball when youre in the last ten fixtures and in or near the relegation zone. there must be immense pressure on defenders like shawcross to help their sides salvage some points before the end of the season.

get well soon ramsey

First there was Abou Diaby who, in May 2006, had his ankle fractured and dislocated by a challenge from Sunderland’s Dan Smith.

Then in February 2008, Eduardo had his left fibula fractured and sustained an open dislocation of his ankle joint following a brutal tackle by Birmingham’s Martin Taylor.

Two years on, Aaron Ramsey has been kicked out of the game for several months following another X-rated incident on an Arsenal player.

Can I ask who is "that kind of lad"? Which footballer "wants" to break the leg of a fellow professional? Unless you're severely twisted or deranged, you will not want to snap anyone's leg into two for no reason.

All of you have gone into overdrive defending Shawcross since the game, but strangely enough, in not a long time, he has broken Francis Jeffers' ankle, as well as injured Emmanuel Adebayor off the pitch on Arsenal's visit to the Britannia last season, and now this. He is no saint. But, since Shawcross came off the field in tears, that is enough for many to justify how you, and your fellow 'physical' teams, approach games against some of the better sides in English football. And of course, Shawcross is not that type of lad.

Physically bully Arsenal, or for matter any technically superior side, and you might grind out a result. And that is how you are supposed to show your English grit. Wonderful isn't it? Resort to wrestling when you can't play football, and it's considered by you to be heroic, gritty, and shows a lot of 'bottle'.

After all, Shawcross is just not that type of lad. Taylor is not that type of lad. And of course, Brutus was an honorable man.
