The primed athletes’ stand, hearts exploding with pride as they sing their national anthems. Mentally, they build themselves up a competitive fury, ready for battle, a fight to the death. It seems nothing can stand in their way, that is until mother nature intervenes.
This was the scene before the Mexico vs. El Salvador World Cup Qualifier on Saturday in the Azteca Stadium. The game started normally but as the play reached the Salvadorian goal mouth it was clear the goalkeeper and…

The living soap opera that is Diego Maradona has been granted permission for one more episode.
Yesterday Argentina kept their World Cup qualification hopes alive with a dramatic 2-1 win over Peru. An away win against Uruguay on Wednesday shall ensure a South Africa spot. A loss however coupled with a Columbia win against Chile then they shall be eliminated completely.
Maradona’s tenure has been shambolic at best. A 6-1 humbling to Bolivia and 3-1 home defeat to Brazil were…

EVENTUALLY, BIG GUNS WILL BE THERE
For the last 15 months PORTUGAL have been extremely inconsistent , but fortunately they have recovered the situation ,thanks to
some poor performances from sweden and a big helping hand fron the Dens. Win in a home fixture against Malta would guarantee a play off spot. They should avoid the likes of France and Russia bcs of their high fifa ranking.
ARGENTINA have been the complete opposite , they made a good start to the campeign…

I,ve travelled a fair bit around the world and watched many games. Currently in Mexico and have been watching the league games and the Internationals and been largley unimpressed. The standard is nowhere near European standards.
These are my top ten leagues..Premiership is King,no doubt by a fair margin..Feel free to criticise and argue
1. English Premiership--has been top for at least 5 years
2. La Liga of Spain
3. Bundesliga- Germany
4. Seria A -…

Well ,there were alot of doubters of this side ,when the season kicked off ,but by now ,I think Mark Hughes has silenced alot of them,
In a weekend where the other cash loaded side lsot miserably in their first real test in spain ,mancity put
in another brilliant performance at villa park , n had Hughes turned to in form Martin Petrov than the rusty Santa Cruz, 1 point could have been 3. they were quite brillian in the game,n that too without their most expensive player ,who
was…

Last Sunday marked the latest installment of the old fim saga that has gone back for over a hundred years.
The two Scottish giants have held a monopoly over the Scottish league titles since the days of Alex Fergusons Aberdeen and Jim McLeans Dundee United in the 1980,s. As a result the every Glasgow Derby has a major saying on the route of the years title.
This time round it was Rangers who enjoyed a home victory courtesy of two goals from ex-celtic and Scotland striker…

As an Ireland fan i am outraged by FIFA's plans to seed the World Cup European Play-Offs because we had a mgnificent chance of getting to a major tournament since micko in 2002 when we were hard done by spain (flippin penalties). What makes it worse is that in the summer Fifa were saying that the play-offs wouldnt be seeded and everyone on our tiny island were like "wahey were gona make it COMON!!!!!" well we had a good chance untill fifa and there stupid rules.STONE-AGE W*NKS!IF ITS FOR THE…

I would like to get every1s attention towards chel's squad, which most think that is quite complete, but
I dont , They dont have an out an out flayer player ,who can do things out of the ordinary, go past people,
some stepovers, dribbling skills, make some =thing happen when things get tight. Joe cole was good 3 years ago
but after the injuries ,he has lost that part of the game a fair bit.Robben was their last player of that sort.
You see worlds top teams, Madrid have…

welll refs performance in manu matches continues to be poor, and in favour of
1 particular side .
United have played wonderfully this season so far but the refs keep on making
the wins a bit sour for fans of opposition teams.United have made a very impress start and an unexpected one
too,bcs every1 thought they would struggle to cope without ronaldo and tevez ,esp
at the start as they get used to time after C.Rod, but they have been…

In one particular class, I wrote a short
essay on the beauty of football.

Despite America having various popular sports such as Basketball, baseball and football, there are only a few communities that have totally accepted the notion that only football or soccer is the world's most popular sport.
Although there are a lot of variations, the same still remains true, that…
