Are Liverpool going to get the 4th spot of Premier League this season?

For Liverpool this season has been of more downs rather than up.Having played some poor football they now find themselves struggling hold onto the 4th spot.Teams like Man city, Tottenham and Aston Villa are vying for this spot which would give them the opportunity to play in the next yaers Champions League Qualifying round. So lots are at stake. So can liverpool can bring forward thier a game and end the seaon with a high note.Guyz who do u think will get the 4th spot if not liverpool.Comments are welcomed

I Do not recall stating Manchester united will go on and win the league this year. Its true that Liverpool do have a chance at old Trafford as any other team. Match results are unpredictable this Year. We have seem Liverpool go down 3-1 at Fullham & Manutd went down 3-0. So anything can happen since there will still be controversial result even against those you qualify as mediocre team .

I still agree that clubs are build upon their past & that its the past which shapes the present and Future. Hence man , which is liverpool still struggling . What have you learn from your past glories. We might not have so much of Champion league but we know that we can equal & Surpasse Liverpool records in CL. Three years ago you were chanting 18-15, now you are chanting 5-3, dont be suprised in the next three year you have nothing else to cheer about. By the way, history shapes the present & Future but is not made to live in...as my grand dad used to say in his time there were no cellphones.

Its good that you realise that two players do not make a time. Too often when one of them are missing on the pitch you Liverpool supporters will say ah if Gerard or Torres was here it would have been a different match. I reckon the fact that Rooney is unstopable because he has lifed his game. Have a glance at the goals he is scoring. Most of them came from assist , the two headers against wes ham & Inter milan. I am sure even if the guy gets injured the team can still achieve something. past year we were called Ronaldo Team , Now its Rooney Team. As for Ferdinand & Vidic , they might not be here , but still Manuted is behind chelsea, a final to play for on Sunday & Still inside the CL. So Crap or not the team is not battling for Survival or a 4th spot.

Would love to Elaborate more upon the points held below but i have to pen off.

Avishek, I hope you know the starting line up of your team, As for Manuted there are only Rooney & Evra who played the most game. We call that Squad Rotation

By the Way Jackson we should talk on a chat to exchange points of view that would be very interesting.

@ayush: first off dumbfuck this is a post about whether liverpool will make fourth this season or not. its not a liverpool bashing thread. you can shut the fuck up with your bullshit and stop riding dick. if you have a comment to make then make it. otherwise shut your fat trap and keep it shut.

right so. moving on.

@coosnapa: of course winning at united is important! i only explained the statistics because the other guy was doubting a favorable result for liverpool at united. the man u fixture is probably the second most interersting one after the chelsea fixture. all of the other ones are against mediocre bottom of the table teams.

you said "Be realistic stop talk about the past & live the present", if that is so then why are you so gung ho about man united? chelsea are going to win this year so you might as well stop chanting about glory. clubs are built upon their past. its the past that shapes the present. you probably dont care about history because you dont have any. 7th place in the champions league doesnt do a team with great history any justice does it?
ok i think youre ranting. i didnt mention anything about us relying on gerrard and torres. as a matter of fact liverpool beat united the last two times without either of them! if anything liverpool do better as a squad WITHOUT torres and gerrard.

look im not talking about winning the premier league. this thread is about getting fourth place. there is no doubt that man u have had a better season than liverpool. you talk about a manchester and arsenal injury crisis when liverpool had the worst injury crisis in the premier league. when you have to field your reserve team because your first team and all of the substitutes are injured, you know youve got an injury crisis..
you had a defensive crisis. that just shows how badly you rely on ferdinand and vidic. without them your defense is crap.

you say that liverpool overly rely on torres and gerrard. what about rooney fc? you cannot honestly tell me that united would be in the top half of the table without him. michael owen hasnt scored many hattricks since he joined from newcastle has he?

@ avishek: i could care less about the "utd fans" or anything man u related. if youre so interested why dont you post up a discussion while you still have your third champions league trophy? i mean.. the glazers should be selling it anytime now

Guys, please stay civil in discussions. Bashing other members is not allowed here. I'm OK with hating other teams, rivalry and such but please keep discussions clear of any personal bashing. Thanks
haha sorry about the profanities guys, i got a little carried away.
ive got to run some errands but when i get back later ill reply to you all.
wesley: you said "dont be suprised in the next three year you have nothing else to cheer about", I will always have something to cheer about. I am a fan of liverpool fc and of the sport of football in general. As long as my team is taking to the pitch they will never walk alone. Whether they win lose or draw. First place or bottom of the third division, I will always support liverpool and cheer.

the main england derby has always been manchester united vs liverpool fc. no man city/tottenham/aston villa team would change the fact that man united and liverpool have a long history of rivalry. chelsea/man united might be a big fixture on the calendar as chelsea liverpool was last year in the champions league, but chelsea dont have the history that either of our clubs do. SAF himself claimed that THE derby was man united - liverpool. the history and emotion surrounding the game. its irreplacable.. anyway. ill stop ranting about that now. this thread isnt about why liverpool should be in the top four, its why liverpool will be in the top four come the end of season.

if youre right about history not being made to live in, then you should be opposed to match commentators calling manchester united "the champions". after all, in order to be the reigning champion, you have to have won the previous year which would make it part of history, not the present season. regardless of that, I do not live in the past. to say that all of the cups in liverpools trophy cabinet are worthless because they werent cups from the last ten years is ridiculous. our (united and liverpool) history is what sets us apart from other clubs like west ham or manchester city. it isnt fair to say that liverpool have the very best squad in the world, on the other hand it IS fair to say that liverpool are statistically the best team that has ever come out of england. just like it would be fair to say that steven gerrard has scored more goals in europe than any english player. theyre statistically proven facts (fakhts). chelsea probably has the strongest squad in england right now. that doesnt make them the best english team though. no one had heard of them before the 2000's.

liverpool fans do sometimes talk about how if we had gerrard or torres playing we would have done better or something but thats normal. gerrard is the best midfielder in the world. when we had xabi alonso with gerrard in midfield our midfield was better or at least as good as barca's (best midfield in the world at the moment). our 4-0 win over real madrid is one testement to that. in any case its not like united fans dont whine about how they would have done better if ferdinand or rooney were on the pitch. you just have to take results and accept what you get. in football anything can happen.

if rooney were injured i would highly doubt that you would be behind chelsea right now. owen berbatov and valencia cant compare in any way. youd be battling it out for fourth with us.

yes we did go down to fullham 3-1, but we have only conceded three times in the last twelve games in all competitions, our team has come a long way since that upset.

I agree, exchanging points of view would definitely be interesting.
Does City beat Chelsea? A tall order for the sky blues but I worry for Liverpool at Blackburn against a Big Sam team and an untested defensive partnership between Kygiakos and Agger. I lean towards Benayoun and Torres finding a bit of fitness and the creativity of Aquaman to undo Blackburn. Liverpool 3-1, and fourth spot for the time being.
I guess this could be the end for Liverpool's 4th place dreams. City taking 3 points at Stamford bridge, that could be the end
Shocking isn't it.To be fair i never expected that Man City considering their pathetic performance away from home will be able to give chelsea a fight let alone win the match. This is a very interesting situation as it gives both Man utd and Arsenal to capitalize and close in on chelsea. Its now a three way race for the title and i am sure that Man utd are going to show their class once again an will walk away with the title. As for liverpool this is a big blow.It will be tough, seriously tough for them to get the 4th spot.Man city if they can maintain their momentum will get the 4th spot at the end of season.
